Role Description 


The Head of Category is owner of the P&L of one or several categories across all our markets.


The Head of Category is interacting with Head of Sales and CCO internally as well as managing a team of key accounts. He / she will also have to build tremendous relationships externally with top executives at brand and distributor side.


The Head of Category is responsible for delivering a world-class customer and vendor experience thanks to the right assortment, a perfect online ergonomics, the best prices and the most innovative marketing campaigns.


Main Responsibilities 




    • Achieving the targets of revenue, items sold, gross margin, assortment, vendor base



Building, managing, animating key account manager




    • Developing tight professional / personal relationships with Country manager and of key brands (Lenovo, Intel, etc)



Being recognized as an expert on your category in MA by all stakeholders




    • Organizing key commercial events such as Black Friday, Jumia Anniversary, Mobile Week.



Becoming an expert of your category with a perfect knowledge of the different products / pricing / market trends




    • Handling pricing and assortment strategy.



Building a very friendly user interface for our vendors and our customers by being involved in our Tech developments



  • On board new Key Account and new brand on Jumia.


A successful candidate will fulfil the following requirements:




    • Strong management and inter-personal skills



Exceptional commercial skills




    • Very detail oriented



Ability to anticipate, structure and organize




    • Autonomous



Resistant to stress & finding simple solutions to complex problems


Expected background and technical skills:



  • 5+ years’ experience in Retail / consulting



  • A master degree from Engineering Schools / Universities
